Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said the foreigners are also not supporting BNP anymore due to its destructive politics, arson attacks and vandalism.
"The situation is different now. The foreigners also aren`t supporting the BNP that does politics of torching people, enforcing hartals-blockades and vandalizing vehicles," he told a discussion at Advocate Nuruchchafa Talukdar Auditorium in Rangunia upazila this evening.
AL`s Rangunia upazila unit organised the discussion marking the 48th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day.
Hasan said if BNP carries out any evil attempts to make public sufferings, torch vehicles and destroy people`s properties, they will be dealt with in iron hand.
Describing the difference between AL and BNP`s government tenures and BNP`s destructive politics, Hasan categorically said under the patronization of the then Begum Khaleda Zia`s government, militants launched the series bombings in five hundred places across the country on August 17, 2005.
But Bangabandhu`s daughter Sheikh Hasina`s government has built mosques at 560 places, he mentioned.
"We build new mosques but they burn holy Quran in Baitul Mukarram. We give free textbooks to school children but they torch books and vehicles and carries out arson attacks on people. This is the difference between BNP and Awami League," he said.
He said when Bangabandhu was rebuilding the war-ravaged country and taking it forward, he was brutally killed within only three and a half years.
Bangabandhu`s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been making her all out strides to materialize the dream of the father of the nation, he said.
Under her magical leadership, Bangladesh is progressing fast and attaining appreciations from the entire world and even Pakistan is suffering from jealousy seeing Bangladesh unprecedented development, he said.
Hasan said Sheikh Hasina`s leadership has become an example to the world for her steadfast measures in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
Rangunia Upazila AL Vice-President Abdul Monaf Sikder chaired the discussion which was conducted by its publicity secretary Emrul Karim Rashed and Mahmudul Hasan Badsha.
AL`s Chattogram North District unit leaders Swajan Kumar Talukdar, Zahir Ahmed Chowdhury and Abul Kashem Chishti, Upazila AL leaders Engineer Shamsul Alam Talukder and Iqbal Hossain, Upazila Jubo League President Shamsuddoha Sikder Arju, UP Chairman Mujibul Haque Hero, Sheikh Farid Uddin Chowdhury, Shafiul Alam and municipality unit AL president Ariful Islam Chowdhury spoke on the occasion, among others.
